Jerry Krause defended Scottie Pippen regarding infamous 'migraine game' in unpublished memoir

The rocky relationship and feud between former Chicago Bulls general manager Jerry Krause and Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen have been documented throughout ESPN's "The Last Dance" docuseries.

On Monday, we learned Krause defended Pippen regarding one of the lowest basketball moments ever experienced by the six-time champion.

Before Pippen, Michael Jordan and the Bulls won their first ring of the decade, Pippen scored only two points in Game 7 of the 1990 Eastern Conference Finals versus the Detroit Pistons while battling a painful migraine. Detroit defeated Chicago by 19 points en route to winning a second consecutive title.

As Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington wrote, agent David Falk, who represented MJ, criticized Pippen regarding that fateful day while speaking on Washington radio station 106.7 The Fan in late April:

"Scottie's problem, as the documentary points out in so many different places after the episodes you've seen, is that he wasn't a great competitor. There were times for silly reasons. The migraine; you think that Michael Jordan [would do that] unless he had his leg amputated?"

On Monday, K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago wrote how Krause defended Pippen in an unfinished and unpublished memoir. "Scottie wanted to come back in that game," Krause reportedly wrote about Pippen missing a portion of the contest because of the migraine. "Our team doctor told me he would resign on the spot if I let him."

While Pippen played 42 minutes despite the migraine, he hit only one of 10 attempts room the field and went 0-2 from three-point range.
