Jordan Poole is putting up embarrassing shots for the Wizards

Against the Celtics on Monday night, Poole casually dribbled into the paint, then even more casually dribbled behind the arc for a rare no-look three-point attempt. He didn't notice that Kristaps Porzingis followed him and easily rejected his shot.

In Washington's second game, Poole took a three-pointer and spun around, so confident in his shot that he didn't have to watch it go in. It did not.

The Wizards are 1-2, and Poole isn't delivering for his new team. He's averaging 18.7 points but shooting 38.5 percent from the field and just 21.7 percent from three-point range. Poole's also averaging four turnovers per game compared to just three assists. In the NBA, you don't want to your assist-to-turnover ratio to be below one.

Washington's offense is running through Poole and Kyle Kuzma, neither of whom is known for his shot selection. Kuzma is making 25  percent of his threes this season, and he's averaging two assists per game, although only 0.7 turnovers.

Bad shots are part of what made the Warriors give up on Poole after the season, especially after how Poole's tendency toward deep, early three-pointers frustrated Steph Curry.

One of Poole's terrible shots got Curry so mad that he was ejected for throwing his mouthpiece.

It's early in the season, and winning isn't a priority for Washington this year. But with each wild heave, Poole is prematurely wearing out his welcome in D.C.
