We simply cannot catch a break with our Look of the Day picks. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 33 combined points and assists after the third quarter on Tuesday night, but he didn't play a single minute in the fourth because the game was a blowout. Nothing we can do about that.

What we can do is keep grinding to get our Look of the Day picks back to .500, so let's start Wednesday night.

Jordan Poole has been abysmal to start the season. I know that. You know that. Everyone who follows the NBA knows that.

Over his first 10 games with the Wizards, Poole is averaging 16.2 points on 41.2 percent shooting and 30.3 percent from beyond the arc. He has an offensive rating of 94 and a defensive rating of 119, which, if you're not a basketball stat nerd, is truly horrendous. Poole has made just 20 of his last 54 shot attempts and six of his last 24 three-point attempts.

So, why in the world are we backing him with an alternate points prop? Well, if there was ever a game for Poole to break out of his slump and light up the stat sheet, it would be this one.

The Dallas Mavericks rank 29th in the NBA in opponent shooting percentage and 25th in points allowed per game. Poole gets to go up against Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in this matchup, who are two of the worst guard defenders in the NBA. They're also playing in a back-to-back with tired legs. The total for this game is set at a whopping 245.5, so oddsmakers are expecting a high-scoring shootout here.

Getting enough shot attempts won't be a problem for Poole. He might have to make only 35 percent of them to cash this over.
