NBA best bets for Wednesday: We like Mike

We're feeling a little frisky on this fine Wednesday morning, so we scrolled past the regular NBA prop sections and targeted some plus-money alt lines to kick off our humpday adventure. Join us, won't you?

Jalen Duren to record 16+ rebounds (+370 FanDuel)

This is a dream matchup for Duren. The Charlotte Hornets will be without starting center Mark Williams, and backup center Nick Richards is questionable to play. If Richards sits, 6-foot-7 forward P.J. Washington will serve as Charlotte's de facto center in the game.

No one will be able to stop Duren from gobbling up rebounds in this one.

Mike Conley to record 10+ assists (+320 FD)

Conley has been hit or miss with his assist numbers all season, but he's found a groove lately with 10 assists in three of his last six starts. Now he gets to face an atrocious Washington Wizards defense that ranks dead last in the NBA in assists allowed per game and 29th in opponent shooting percentage.

Conley will be setting up his teammates for open shots all night. They just have to convert them, and there's no better team to do that against than the Wizards.

Grayson Allen 4+ made threes (+260 FD)

Allen's role in the Phoenix Suns offense is to create space for the big guns and knock down open threes on kick-outs, and he's doing an exceptional job. The Duke product is leading the NBA in three-point shooting percentage (49.1 percent), and he's averaging 4.4 made threes per game over his last five starts.

Wednesday night's game between the Suns and the Dallas Mavericks is expected to be a shootout considering the total of 240.5, so Allen should have plenty of chances to hit this number.

In the news ...

Bucks fire head coach Adrian Griffin, hire Doc Rivers — The Milwaukee Bucks are 30-13 and sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference halfway through the season, but that apparently isn't good enough for general manager Jon Horst. On Tuesday, the Bucks shocked the NBA world by firing first-year head coach Adrian Griffin after just 43 games. CNN first reported that veteran coach Doc Rivers has accepted the vacancy. The Bucks are still +480 to win the NBA title in 2024.

Adrian Beltre, Joe Mauer and Todd Helton elected to Baseball Hall of Fame — Cooperstown, N.Y. officially has three new residents. Beltre, Mauer and Helton all received more than 75 percent support from the 385 voters in the Baseball Writers' Association of America, and they will make up the 2024 Hall of Fame class. Billy Wagner (73.8 percent) was the next closest to passing the 75 percent threshold.

Packers part ways with DC Joe Barry — The Green Bay Packers have become the latest team to shake up their coaching staff, as Barry will not be returning for his fourth year as defensive coordinator. Green Bay's defense played well down the stretch, but it still finished 28th in the NFL against the run and 23rd in yards allowed.
