NBA Draft: Brice Sensabaugh Offers Elite-Level Scoring in First Round
USA TODAY Sports

After losing leading scorers Malaki Branham and EJ Liddell to the 2022 NBA Draft’s first round, Ohio State came into the season with some major question marks.

Luckily, consensus four-star recruit Brice Sensabaugh not only emerged as the Buckeyes’ leading scorer, he emerged as another first round talent, too.

Sensabaugh was a prolific scorer for Ohio State, averaging 16.3 points on 48 percent shooting and 41 percent 3-point shooting. Per 40, he scored 26.6 points per game.

And the 6-foot-6 forward is far from one-dimensional. He’s a talented scorer in isolation, a catch-and-shoot threat and uses his solid frame and physicality to maneuver around the rest of the court easily.

Per Synergy Sport’s points per shot ranking, Sensabaugh ranked excellent in jump shots, catch-and-shot shots, both guarded and unguarded, and very good in all field goal attempts and dribble jumpers.

Suffice to say, Sensabaugh’s scoring is the real deal.

His issues lie, well, most everywhere else. There are real defensive concerns, to the point that he saw just 24.5 minutes per game despite his scoring. He also averaged just 38 assists to 67 total turnovers.

In spite of that, Sensabaugh might still be a talented enough scorer to earn late-lottery looks. And in the absolute least should be a first round selection.

Notable potential fits who could benefit from a scoring infusion include the New Orleans Pelicans with the final lottery pick, the Lakers with the No. 17 pick or Miami, who is set to lose some shooters to free agency, eighteenth overall.
