Three-time NBA Slam Dunk champ Nate Robinson will box YouTuber Jake Paul in lead-up to Mike Tyson's comeback fight

Mike Tyson announced his return to boxing Thursday, and considering the man's larger-than-life persona, it only makes sense that the undercard fight would involve a former NBA player and a YouTube star. Jake Paul and Nate Robinson will enter the ring to duke it out on Sept. 12 in the lead-up to Tyson's fight with Roy Jones Jr.

"I wanted to show that I'm a world-class athlete, I played college football, played in the NBA for 11 years, and I'm excited for this venture into the sport of boxing," Robinson said. "Jake Paul, I want all the smoke."

Robinson vs. Paul may seem like the most random boxing pairing ever, but this fight has actually been in the works for months. Back in May, Robinson, three-time winner of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, told TMZ Sports that he was tired of Paul being a bully and challenged him to a fight. It was a confusing story that died down pretty quickly, but now the two will actually face off.

"I am excited to partner with Triller and get into the ring with an elite athlete. But make no mistake, on September 12th, Nate will meet the canvass early," Paul said in a statement.

Paul is currently 1-0 in his professional boxing career, having beaten fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib via technical knockout in January. Will his second professional fight live up to the hype? Or will this be seen as a dumb publicity stunt gone too far? We'll have to watch to find out.
