Inside the Wizards have been tracking rookie Bilal Coulibaly since the day the new leadership team moved up a spot in last year’s draft to snag him. The rookie’s skillset as not gone unnoticed as he was selected to be a participant in the NBA Rising Stars game; an honor only for the players that are truly seen by the league as shaping the next generation of the game.

I was able to speak with Coulibaly during the Rising Stars media availability. Coulibaly acknowledged that while the Wizards are struggling a little bit as a team this season and still figuring some things out, his season must be going pretty well if he was there for the Rising Stars game. He did confidently state that the Wizards are going to keep getting better.

After chatting a bit about the reason why he was selected to the Rising Stars and the overall opportunity, I asked him about his favorite matchups so far this season. Here is Coulibaly’s response:

“That’s a good question. Maybe Brandon Ingram because (of) my second game; the first game he kind of had me like he was hitting tough shots on me and yeah (the) second game I was like yeah I gotta change something like my mind, defensively something and yeah I did a pretty good job so Ingram. The game against Kawhi (Leonard) like two weeks ago that was great matchup.”

Those are for sure two heavy hitters in the league to defend!
