Andrew Berry Makes A Huge Statement About Deshaun Watson’s Future That Will Leave Many Fans Feeling Uncertain
Jessica Rapfogel-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns  general manager Andrew Berry had his pre-NFL Draft press conference on Thursday, and of course, the most significant subject in the room wasn’t about their first-round pick in this year’s draft because they don’t have one. After all, they traded it away two years ago for quarterback Deshaun Watson, the most prominent subject at today’s press conference.

Deshaun Watson Has Not Lived Up To The Hype That Last Two Years

Watson went out with a season-ending shoulder injury during Week Ten of last season, and the Browns have only seen Watson start in 12 games since they acquired him in March of 2022. He was suspended for the first 11 games in 2022 and started the last six, and then in 2023, Watson was in and out with a shoulder injury that ended his season in November.

The Browns Brought In A Lot Of Backup Options

Watson is progressing very well with his shoulder injury this offseason. Still, the Browns did bring in a lot of insurance at the backup quarterback position to make sure if he isn’t ready to go, they will have a long list of backups who can start for him in Week One, including Jameis Winston, Tyler Huntley, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Andrew Berry Made A Statment Where Watson Is At Right Now

Andrew Berry stated on Thursday, “The exception is that Deshaun Watson will be ready to start the season, but won’t make any guarantees.”

It seems like Browns fans got great news that their starting quarterback appears ready to start the season. The only way he won’t start is if he has some setback or another injury that pops up, and that is probably why Berry said he wouldn’t make any guarantees.
