Baltimore Ravens Work Out Extension With Nelson Agholor
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

One area that the Baltimore Ravens aggressively looked to upgrade last offseason was their wide receivers. They spent in free agency and used premium draft capital to upgrade the pass catchers around Lamar Jackson, hoping it would result in their offense being taken to another level.

The moves paid off as Jackson won the NFL MVP award for the second time in his career. The Ravens also found plenty of success on the field, going 13-4 during the regular season before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

Looking to keep the momentum going offensively, the Ravens worked out an extension with one of their veteran wide receivers. The team agreed to a one-year extension with Nelson Agholor, keeping him from hitting the open market as a free agent in a few weeks.

Had the sides not agreed to an extension, Agholor’s contract would have been voided at 4 p.m. ET on Monday afternoon. Along with the void, $1.668 million in dead money would have been placed on their 2024 salary cap.

Agholor played in all 17 games for Baltimore in his first season with the franchise. He caught 35 passes for 381 yards and four touchdowns. The Ravens are the fourth stop Agholor has made in his NFL career since being a first-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2015 NFL Draft out of USC.

With Agohlor back in the mix, it means the Ravens are set to have at least three of their top four wide receivers from last season back in the mix. Odell Beckham Jr. is the only one set to hit free agency.

That kind of continuity is great for Jackson and the Ravens’ passing offense. Instead of needing to adjust to new players and develop chemistry and cohesion, this group can build on what was built in 2023 heading into Year 2 under offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
