The Bears waived rookie kicker Andre Szmyt and second-year tight end Jake Tonges on Monday while claiming two other players off waivers.
The players claimed were tight end Lachlan Pitts and linebacker Barrington Wade.
Wade is a 6-foot-1, 232-pound Skokie, IL native who played at Niles North High School and Iowa. He was a 2021 undrafted free agent signing originally by Baltimore before being waived and joining the Broncos as a practice squad player in 2021. He wasn't with a team last year after the Broncos waived him in training camp.
Wade, 25, played in four games in 2021 and had one tackle.
Pitts is an undrafted rookie from William and Mary and is 6-6, 255. He made 38 catches for 689 yards and eight TDs in college. He was one of the players they had at rookie camp in May after the draft as an unsigned player on a tryout basis.
