Bengals teammates praise QB Joe Burrow: 'Whatever it is, he's got it'

Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow is already making a positive impression on new teammates. The way Burrow won them over? By being himself.

"He's a very genuine person," left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. said. "Very rarely do you see someone of his status be as genuine as he is."

New Bengals safety Nick Scott says Burrow's "a little on the quiet side" but "real intense" and "focused."

New right tackle Cody Ford says Burrow "holds a lot of power with the team."

"You can tell he's got that swag," Ford said. "But he'll be that quarterback and leader who wants to grind."

Swag and leadership are important qualities for a QB, but so is having a high football IQ. Burrow checks that box off too.

"I feel like he's always playing chess ten steps ahead of the next man on and off the field," Brown said.

Burrow's been ahead of most of the competition lately with one Super Bowl appearance and back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances. Burrow has a 29-19-1 record including the playoffs the past two years and a TD/INT ratio of 78/29.

Scott noticed that Burrow's "got a hell of an arm zipping it in there". While Burrow being a great leader and football player isn't a surprise, his new teammates have the proper faith and appreciation for the Bengals QB1.

"He's got it. Whatever it is, he's got it," Scott said. "The whole league knows that. We know that. (This spring) has definitely reinforced it."

Burrow sounds like he's on a mission after coming up short in the playoffs this season, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, 23-20. What his new teammates are saying indicates Burrow's serious for a reason and it's all part of his strategy to win a Super Bowl.

"There's a clear direction. This isn't a team just hoping for a winning season or just trying to make the playoffs," Scott said. "It's clear to everybody the goal is to win a championship."

The road to even getting to a Super Bowl won't be easy for the Bengals in an AFC that features quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert, and Aaron Rodgers. What we do know is Burrow and the Bengals will be in the thick of things late in the season and are among a small handful of teams that can realistically win a championship.
