Browns RB Nick Chubb could be a sleeper MVP candidate

Don't count out Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb for NFL awards come winter.

While Cleveland isn't a Super Bowl contender by any stretch, Chubb is having one of those amazing seasons that tends to get running backs plenty of accolades.

What he's on track to do is nothing short of stunning.

Chubb is a monster, and he's having perhaps the best running back season since Titans RB Derrick Henry's 2020 season that earned him an Offensive Player of the Year honor.

While quarterbacks Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes will lead any MVP conversations right now, it's hard to argue that any non-QB is having a better year on offense than Chubb. He's singlehandedly keeping the Browns competitive on offense at times this year.

With 841 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns through eight games, Chubb has to, at the very least, be a strong contender for Offensive Player of the Year, if not a stealthy MVP candidate.

While a running back hasn't earned top honors in the NFL since Adrian Peterson won it with the Vikings in 2012, Chubb is perhaps the most talented running back to play since Peterson's heyday besides Henry.

Will he eventually follow in Peterson's footsteps? He's a long shot this year, but following in Henry's footsteps feels very doable if he keeps this up.
