Chiefs All-Pro DT gives Jalen Hurts the ultimate Super Bowl praise

Kansas City Chiefs training camp holdout Chris Jones recently gave high praise to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts for his efforts in Super Bowl LVII.

In terms of rushing, Jones is right.

Despite the crushing 38-35 loss Jones' Chiefs, Hurts finished the big game with a quarterback-record 70 rushing yards on 15 attempts, while also matching Terrell Davis' Super Bowl record of three touchdowns on the ground. The Eagles' signal-caller was an efficient 27-for-38 for 304 passing yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and a 103.4 quarterback rating and surely would've earned game MVP honors if Philadelphia hadn't blown a double-digit halftime lead.

The one miscue on the night for Hurts came midway through the second quarter when he coughed up a fumble that was returned 36 yards for a Kansas City touchdown.

Hurts may have had one more total touchdown and nearly 150 yards of offense more than Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs, but the two-time MVP wasn't too shabby on the big stage himself. Mahomes went 21-for-27 with 182 passing yards and three touchdowns, had no turnovers and added 44 rushing yards via six carries on a gimpy ankle.

The five-time Pro Bowler posted a superior 131.8 quarterback rating and wasn't sacked (Hurts went down twice). Mahomes' rating was the seventh-best in Super Bowl history and the highest since Matt Ryan's 144.1 in 2017 during Super Bowl LI.

Even though the Eagles defense collapsed in the second half, they did a good job of containing Jones. The All-Pro defensive tackle was limited to two solo tackles and failed to record a quarterback hit for just the third time in the entire 2022 campaign.
