Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has novel locker room take after going viral on social media
Aaron E. Martinez/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the most respected NFL franchises ever. That's what happens when you are a dynasty and have won four Super Bowls. They are a team that players want to play for, regardless of what the facilities look like.

Yet, it still seems to be an issue and the talk of town at times. Do the Chiefs need a new locker room? Most certainly, they do. But that does not dictate whether they are a good team or not. In fact, it has nothing to do with making you a good team or not.

However, when a college player comes to the NFL and comes from a big school with big facilities, it can be a major change. In fact, that is how we ended up in some of this drama and what made a picture and video of Xavier Worthy go viral after the draft.

"I knew that question was going to come up," Worthy laughed. "That picture was kind of just misinterpreted. I wasn't looking at the locker room. I don't care about the locker room; I just want to play ball. Yeah, I feel like the only reason why college facilities are like that [i.e., Texas' locker room] is to get players to be like, 'Oh wow, this is what it's like.'"

The video in question saw Worthy with a look on his face that could be mistaken as one that looked uncomfortable and caught off guard. But Worthy made sure to let it be known, but that was not the case at all. The Chiefs' locker room needs an upgrade, and surely they will get one soon, but even Worthy, who comes from a program in Texas that has some of the best facilities, doesn't think it matters.

The facilities won't be the thing that brings free agents to Kansas City. Does that work for teams like the Las Vegas Raiders, which have amazing facilities? Yes. But the Chiefs get free agents because they win and do it a lot at the highest level. That's what Worthy is worried about.
