Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

LAS VEGAS - The Washington Commanders have hired Ken Norton Jr., the Cowboys and 49ers Super Bowl winner as a player, as their linebackers coach.

Norton will work under Dan Quinn, who moves from Dallas to become the Washington head coach.

Norton, who spent the last two seasons on the UCLA staff under Chip Kelly, worked with Quinn for three seasons in Seattle.

Norton has experience as a defensive coordinator and was a standout as an NFL linebacker for 13 seasons, winning three Super Bowls. … in a row - the only player to accomplish that feat.

Norton was on Dallas’ title teams in 1992 and 1993 and then with his move via free agency won the championship again with the San Francisco 49ers the next year.

Norton will work under new Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr., who moves from Dallas to DC with mentor Quinn.

Quinn’s offensive staff will meanwhile be led by Kliff Kingsbury.

The Cowboys on Monday finalized their move to replace Quinn with the hiring of Mike Zimmer to head coach Mike McCarthy‘s staff at The Star.
