Former QB names Steelers landing spot for veteran RB

Most may believe the Steelers are just fine at running back with their one-two-punch of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, but one former quarterback thinks another veteran can help them win the AFC North.

"I am a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan," Ryan Leaf said on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football." "You put [Leonard Fournette] in the backfield with Najee, you get inside the 10-yard line, and Kenny Pickett won't even need to throw the ball. All he'd do is turn around and hand the football to his guys, and that's how Pittsburgh can take the AFC North."

Fournette was released from the Buccaneers in March after three seasons, totaling 3,057 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also spent his first three years with the Jaguars where he had 3,640 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Now at 28, Fournette has begun seeing the disrespect many running backs get as they enter their late 20s. Although, he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.

This isn't to say that Pittsburgh should be interested with an already talented room, but if the price is right, why not?

According to Spotrac, Fournette's market value is a two-year, $4.68 million contract. However, at this point of free agency, the Steelers may be able to get him on a one-year, $2 million deal.

If that's the case, it's a low risk high reward situation, especially with $15.72 million still in cap space.

Fournette would have the opportunity to show he still has gas left in the tank while Pittsburgh would have even better depth barring any injuries. Plus, the Steelers would have arguably the best three-headed monster at running back in the league.
