Jadeveon Clowney Reportedly Visiting Panthers on Thursday; No Return to Ravens?
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Ravens have released wideout Odell Beckham Jr., meaning his tenure in Baltimore lasted one season. The same might be happening to edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

Clowney will reportedly visit with the Carolina Panthers on Thursday per Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

Several teams have shown interest in the former South Carolina Gamecock, including the Ravens, who would like to have him back at the right price. Clowney matched his career high with 9.5 sacks last season while playing for Baltimore - his fifth team.

The former No. 1 overall pick was drafted by the Houston Texans in 2014 and played there for five seasons before moving on to Seattle for one season, Tennessee for one season, Cleveland for two seasons, then Baltimore for one.

During Clowney's 10-year career, he's amassed 52.5 career sacks and made three Pro Bowls.

Clowney was one of the bright spots on a defense that led the league in a number of statistical categories. He indicated at the end of the season he enjoyed playing football again in Baltimore.

“Like I said, I enjoyed coming to work. It made my life a lot easier this year,” Clowney said at locker room cleanout. “That’s probably why I played at a high level because I [didn’t] have any pressure. I would just come in, have fun and be yourself and just play ball.”

According to Ravens coach John Harbaugh, Clowney's agent echoed those sentiments.

“I just ran into the agent for Jadeveon Clowney,” Harbaugh told baltimoreravens.com’s Garrett Downing in an interview at the combine. “Just walking in the street and he grabbed me and I said, I told him I loved him. I [asked], ‘What do you think? How’d he do this year?’ And he goes, ‘This is the first year he’s ended the season happy.’ That says so much right there. It says so much for everything, for everybody in the organization. Maybe we can get him back. We’re going to try.”
