Los Angeles Rams’ Jimmy Garoppolo Contract Details Revealed
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams have made a strong financial commitment to veteran backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Garoppolo is set to make $4.5 million on a one-year contract for the 2024 NFL season.

However, Garoppolo’s deal also carries significant incentives.

Los Angeles Rams’ Jimmy Garoppolo Hopes to Make People Forget Suspension

Garoppolo arrives in Los Angeles after being released by the Las Vegas Raiders following a violation of the NFL’s Performance Enhancing Drug policy.

The Los Angeles Rams, though, won’t have Garoppolo for the first two games of the season as he serves a suspension for what he revealed was a drug he “messed up” not applying for a therapeutic exemption for.

But, Jimmy Garoppolo hopes that he can quickly make the Los Angeles Rams and their fans forget about the suspension.

“Hopefully we’ll get some dubs and start off 2-0 and keep things moving,” Garoppolo told reporters. “But it’s just one of those situations. It is what it is. You got to deal with it and just keep moving on and stay positive.”

Set to serve as Matthew Stafford’s backup, Garoppolo has completed 67.4 percent of his career passes for 15,494 yards with 94 touchdowns to 51 interceptions through a ten-year career that includes one Super Bowl appearance during his tenure with the San Francisco 49ers.

While he won’t have the opportunity to compete for a starting job, Garoppolo says there was a lot to like about the opportunity playing for the Rams, at this stage of his career, presented him.

“Obviously good players all around,” Garoppolo said. “That’s a big part of it. Talking to Sean on the phone, him just running me through offense and things that he had in mind, it really became appetizing. And I know a lot of the coaches here, so a lot of familiarity in that aspect. And then having played against the Rams a lot in my career, I’ve seen a lot of good things from LA.”
