DENTON, Texas — Statistically, SMU women’s basketball team had a good day Saturday. It wasn't enough, though. North Texas still came away with a 78-65 win Saturday in The Super Pit in Denton, Texas.

Three Mustangs reached double-digits, including Amirah Abdur-Rahim who scored 21, nine rebounds, two blocks and career-high five steals. Chantae Embry scored 12 points, her sixth-straight game she reached double-digits. Tiara Young had 15 points and three rebounds, Reagan Bradley had five points and four rebounds, and Maya Chandler scored six.

North Texas scored 18 points off of 14 SMU turnovers and dominated the Mustangs in the fast break 24-5. Dyani Robinson led North Texas with 22 points and three rebounds, Tommisha Lampkin had 16 and 10, and Desiree Wooten had 12 and 4.

SMU’s only lead of the game came early in second quarter with an Aaliyah Henderson layup. The 19-17 lead as North Texas scored the next eight points and never relinquished the lead for the remainder of the game.

The Mustangs will travel to Tulane for their next game Wednesday night. The game will be televised on ESPN+ beginning at 6 p.m. Fans in Dallas can listen to game live on KAAM 770AM.
