PFWA Earmarks LA Star As "Media Good Guy" For 2023 Season
USA TODAY Sports

Not every player who plays in professional sports wants to deal with the media. That is especially true when losses happen. No one truly wants to discuss that kind of situation, but it is what needs to be done at times.

The PFWA has now named their Los Angeles Chargers "media good guy," who is someone who allows the writers to do their job. That honor has landed squarely on the shoulders of Derwin James Jr.

James not only treated writers with respect, but he made himself available after every game in the locker room. The Chargers have dealt with quite a tumultuous season, and we imagine that some players just did not want to talk.

Again, having to deal with losses is hard for everyone, but having to discuss that loss right after it happens has to be tough.

James made sure that the beat writers who covered the team were allowed to do their job and report on what took place, regardless of the less-than-desirable outcome of said games.

The hope is that James will return to the Chargers next season, along with his ability to make sure the press got to do their jobs as well. We hope that the 2024 season can be a much more fruitful effort in terms of wins.

The team will for sure look different with a new head coach in place, who many have speculated could be Jim Harbaugh.
