Ravens' Odell Beckham Jr. shares what makes Lamar Jackson 'electrifying'

If the Baltimore Ravens are to have success in the postseason, the connection between QB Lamar Jackson and WR Odell Beckham Jr. will be a crucial component. 

As far as why Beckham wound up in Baltimore to begin with, it had a lot to do with Jackson.

"It's one of the reasons why I signed here," Beckham said, per the Ravens official site. "I've watched him for years. I watched him when he was at Louisville. He's definitely one of the most electrifying players that we've seen at that position. And one of my favorite players growing up—I'm sure he's always used to getting the comparison—was Mike Vick. He just has that 'it' to him. And I remember being in New York with Saquon Barkley and seeing another guy put on cleats and you just know they're special people."

Beckham is a two-time All-Pro, Jackson's a former NFL MVP, and the expectation is for their connection to flourish. Beckham was asked about the QB's abilities as a passer and put to rest any notion of Jackson not being able to throw the ball effectively, calling it "perception versus reality." Beckham said Jackson has a strong arm and the ball gets up on him fast. 

With new offensive coordinator Todd Monken now in the fold, there's an inkling that the Ravens may throw more than they have in previous seasons with Jackson at QB. It could be a wise decision to keep Jackson healthy for a full season for the first time in three years. 

"I know he wants to throw the ball. I'll tell you this: I'll take 10 passes over 10 runs all the time, so I'm all for it," Beckham noted. "If we're going to air it out, that's fine with me. But it's definitely about winning games, so whatever that takes."

With Beckham now in Baltimore along with Rashod Bateman and first-round pick Zay Flowers, the Ravens have turned the WR position from a weakness into a strength. Now it's all about Jackson developing great relationships on and off the field with his receivers, something that already seems well underway.
