Ravens Urged To Sign Intriguing Veteran CB After Week 2
PHIL MASTURZO / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Baltimore Ravens are off to a strong start in 2023. Baltimore took care of business in Week 1 with a convincing 25-9 victory over the Houston Texans. They followed that up with a competitive 27-24 win against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Despite the Ravens’ success, Baltimore would still benefit from adding depth to the roster. As a result, a recent Bleacher Report article stated the Ravens should look into signing cornerback Greedy Williams.

It should be noted that the article listed running back as Baltimore’s primary weakness. Cornerback was regarded as the Ravens’ second most pressing weakness. Still, Williams was the player named as a potential fit.

Williams, 25, is an LSU product. He debuted in the NFL during the 2019 season and displayed signs of potential. 2020 was his best overall campaign though. In 16 games played (eight starts), Williams recorded a pair of interceptions, 10 passes defended, 41 combined tackles, and 35 solo tackles.

He was limited to only 11 games (one start) in 2022, however, and remains a free agent in 2023. Given his age and potential, it wouldn’t be surprising to see teams inquire about signing Williams. At the very least, he would be a quality depth piece. That said, Williams features enough talent to play a pivotal role for a defense in the NFL.

It will be interesting to see if the Ravens attempt to address their questions at cornerback soon. Baltimore could wait until the trade deadline to make a move, but utilizing the free agent market certainly isn’t a bad idea.

For now, the Ravens will focus on preparing for their Week 3 affair with the Indianapolis Colts. Baltimore will enter the contest as heavy favorites but can’t afford to take the Colts for granted. Indianapolis is fresh off a victory against the Houston Texans and will have momentum heading into Week 3.

Regardless, the Ravens are the team to beat in this game.
