Ryan Leaf Believes Jim Harbaugh May Target 2-Time Pro-Bowl RB in Free Agency
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers' hiring of new head coach Jim Harbaugh brought new life into the Bolts organization. This team has always had talent on the roster, but they haven't been able to find a way to get over the hump.

Harbaugh is expected to help with that, and the pressure will be on him to lead this team to the promised land. He was the hottest name on the open market, and the Chargers did whatever they had to in order to land him.

But with him in the mix now, the Bolts still have work to do on the roster. With the NFL Draft and free agency coming up, the Chargers need to get started.

Former Chargers quarterback Ryan Leaf appeared on Good Morning Football and believes he has an idea of one player that Harbaugh will target in free agency. That would be two-time Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley.

“Austin Ekeler is a big part of what could be with them running the football, but I do think that Saquon Barkley is going to be at the top of his list in terms of what he wants to do at the running back position,” Leaf said. “It’s something I know Jim Harbaugh wants to do — he wants to run the football, and he wants to use those guys down the field with play action.”

Barkley would be an incredible get for Harbaugh and the Bolts, giving them one of the better backs in football. He is a free agent this offseason and is expected to command a high salary from whoever signs him.

It would be a massive splash for the Bolts to land Barkley, and he would really help their offense flourish. Barkley has been relatively healthy over the last few seasons and looked great last season.

In 14 games for the New York Giants, he put up 962 yards and six touchdowns. He would be an explosive get for the Bolts, and Harbaugh loves to have a powerful running back leading the offense.
