Star Receiver Wants To Play For Las Vegas Raiders
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders own the 13th overall pick in the NFL Draft next Thursday and will be one of the most interesting teams to monitor in the process.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce has made it no secret that he would like to find the team’s quarterback of the future, but given that their pick is in the teens, it may be difficult for them to land one of the top quarterback prospects without trading up.

But could Las Vegas go in another direction and select a wide receiver?

That’s what University of Washington star Rome Odunze is hoping.

During a recent interview with Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Odunze expressed his desire to play for the Raiders, especially if they also manage to land Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

“I’m a fan of the Raiders, and you know being in my hometown, I’m a big fan already,” Odunze said. “I’m a very city-oriented young man, so I definitely wouldn’t mind putting on that silver and learning from Davante Adams. Hopefully, they get my boy Penix or someone back there slinging the ball as well, that would be awesome.”

Of course, it may be difficult for Las Vegas to land both Huskies standouts without some serious maneuvering.

There is a chance that Odunze may not even be available at No. 13, as many mock drafts have him going ninth overall to the Chicago Bears. Some also have him falling to the New York Jets at No. 10.

And if the Raiders are able to select Odunze? They may have to trade back into the first round to have a shot at Penix, whose stock seems to be rising on some draft boards.

Plus, Las Vegas already has a pair of impressive receivers in Adams and Jakobi Meyers, so the position is not a pressing need for the club.

But who knows? Maybe Odunze’s dream scenario will come true.
