Steelers make cold-hearted roster move ahead of Colts game
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL brings new meaning to "It's not personal, it's just business."

Hiring and firing daily, that quote is known all too well by professional football players.

And while Pittsburgh's latest move was just business, it still hurts all the same:

Goodbye To A Hometown Hero

Qadree Ollison was a fifth-round pick out of the University of Pittsburgh back in 2019. Drafted by Atlanta, the Pitt Panther great played three years for the Falcons before a stint in Dallas, followed by his signing to Pittsburgh's practice squad back in September. Ollison appeared in two games as a member of Pittsburgh's active roster.

Ollison accounted for over 3000 yards and 32 TDs from scrimmage during his four years at Pittsburgh, following in the footsteps of James Conner and making a name for himself.

Releasing him was surely no easy task, but with a LB group ravaged by injuries, Pittsburgh had to add a familiar face:

[LB David] Perales was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft and signed to the practice squad at the start of the regular season, but released at the end of October.

Perales finished his career at Fresno State with 22.5 sacks, the sixth most in school history. He started 13 of 14 games in 2022 and finished with a career-high 11.5 sacks and 16 tackles for a loss. Perales had two forced fumbles, one interception and five passes defensed. He ranked seventh in the FBS in sacks. He transferred to Fresno State after starting his college career at Sacramento State.
