Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak tests positive for COVID-19

Jake DeBrusk was recently removed from the NHL’s COVID list and is expected to be in the Boston Bruins’ lineup on Monday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. However, the Bruins aren’t completely in the clear when it comes to COVID-19.

According to NHL.com’s Amalie Benjamin, Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak has tested positive for COVID-19.

This is a huge blow to Boston’s goaltending unit as Tuukka Rask still is sidelined with an upper-body injury. Halak had been the Bruins’ primary goaltender for much of the last month. He is 9-5-3 on the season with a 2.44 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.

With the B’s top two goaltenders on the shelf, Daniel Vladar and Jeremy Swayman will take over. Vladar has started three games this season, going 2-1-0 with a 2.03 GAA and .929 SV%.

Swayman, meanwhile, has never started an NHL game. He is 8-1-0 with the AHL’s Providence Bruins this season and owns a 1.89 GAA and .933 SV%.
