Flyers trade Jakub Voracek to Blue Jackets for Cam Atkinson

Voracek spent the last 10 seasons in Philadelphia, tallying 604 points (177 goals, 427 assists) in 727 games, adding 28 points (nine goals, 19 assists) in 49 playoff games. 

The 31-year-old's fate in Philadelphia became uncertain around the expansion draft as the Flyers have put emphasis on gaining cap flexibility and filling holes following a disappointing 2020-21 season. 

Voracek is under contract for the next three seasons at $8.25 million per year. He was drafted by the Blue Jackets seventh overall in 2007, spending three seasons with the team before joining Philadelphia. 

Atkinson, meanwhile, has four more years left on his deal with an annual cap hit of $5.875 million. The Blue Jackets drafted the 32-year-old in the sixth round of the 2008 draft. 

The Boston College product has tallied 402 points (213 goals, 189 assists) in 627 games, adding 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 35 playoff games. 

The Flyers have spent much of the past week upgrading their roster, with Atkinson being the latest addition. General manager Chuck Fletcher has also made deals for defensemen Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen, parting ways with Philippe Myers, Shayne Gostisbehere, Robert Hagg, Nolan Patrick and four draft picks.
