NHL Tuesday bets: Target Maple Leafs, Panthers for goals

We've got six games on the docket for the NHL today, and we already discussed an over/under bet for one of them, which you can read here.
We've got two more games worth circling for goal-scoring, so we'll load up two team totals on this Tuesday in hockey, let's break them both down.

Toronto Maple Leafs

What an awful performance by Toronto yesterday, scoring just twice against Montreal. I completely understand the trepidation seeing this team here again.

I've been a proponent of bounce-backs in hockey betting, especially for player props. We'll stretch that theme to our team total bets tonight.

This is Toronto's last chance in my book. If the Leafs can't score tonight, that's it for me — I'll avoid the Maple Leafs like the plague.

However, the numbers showcase a game that should yield a plethora of goals from the Toronto end.

In its past 10 road games, Toronto is averaging 3.9 goals per game, the fourth-highest mark in the NHL.

The Leafs visit Columbus tonight. In their past 10 home games, the Blue Jackets are allowing both the most goals per game (4.8) and shots per game (37.3).

This is an even better opponent than Montreal, and Toronto has the prior production that should yield a better game tonight.

Best Bet: Over 3.5 goals in regulation (-128 on DraftKings with 22% profit boost)

DraftKings is offering a 22% profit boost for 2/22/22, so we'll apply one of the two promotional bonuses to this total.

If you don't have that at your disposal, I lean the over in this game. CBJ has been scoring, and Toronto has let in 3.4 goals per game on the road in its past 10.

Florida Panthers

Florida is in a great spot tonight for scoring, so we load the Panthers up confidently.

Led by Jonathan Huberdeau's 70 points, Florida is averaging six goals per game in its past five home games, the most in the NHL.

If you look at their last 10, the Panthers still lead the league in home scoring with 5.5 per game. That's about as consistent as it gets.

They get Nashville today, which is allowing 3.6 goals per game in its last five on the road.

This one is pushed over the edge by power-play data. In their past 20 games, the Panthers own the fifth-best PP scoring rate.

Meanwhile, the Predators are averaging the most penalties per game. They are going to give Florida opportunities to show off its elite power-play scoring, and volume is king when it comes to betting team totals.

Nashville also is seeing the third-most shots per game on the road in its past 10 at 37.1 per game. Florida should be able to pepper Nashville all night and get the puck in the net.

Best Bet: Over 3.5 goals in regulation (-135 DraftKings)
