Stars’ Evgenii Dadonov will miss ‘extended’ period of time with lower-body injury
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer told reporters Tuesday that forward Evgenii Dadonov will miss an “extended” period of time with a fracture suffered during their game against the Montreal Canadiens last Saturday.

While DeBoer wouldn’t confirm exactly what was fractured, several reporters, including Stars’ radio host Owen Newkirk confirmed it’s a lower-body injury.

The news is disappointing for Dadonov, who has 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points through 50 games and had turned into a reliable depth and role player on this Stars squad. Fans and the club hope the Russian winger will get back into the lineup before the start of the playoffs.

Now in his second season with the club after being traded to Dallas by the Montreal Canadians near the 2023 Trade Deadline, the 34-year-old Dadonov has 38 points (15 goals and 23 assists) in 83 total games with the team.

Through 536 NHL games, Dadonov has 143 goals and 178 assists for 321 points with the Stars, Canadiens, Vegas Golden Knights, Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers. He recorded a career-high 70 points (28 goals and 42 assists) with the Panthers in 2018-19, and hit 65 points the season prior.

The Stars are first in the Central Division with a record of 32-14-6 and 70 points, going 7-2-1 in their last 10. They will face the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday at home, then head to Tennessee to take on the Nashville Predators on Thursday night before flying back to Texas to host the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday afternoon.
