It’s been a few weeks since Argentina lifted the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar last month and storys of how former Argentine players are coming out. But, Carlos Tevez had an interesting confession when following Lionel Messi & Co.

Tevez spoke with Super Miter Deportivo (h/t Ole), stating that he wasn’t following World Cup closely. Furthermore, the 38-year-old noted that France was the team that he was pulling for during the competition.

“I followed the World Cup little,” Tevez said. “I followed France a lot because it was a team that I liked.”

However, Tevez also expressed he was happy to see his children celebrating Argentina becoming world champions as Argentina beat France in penalty kicks (4-2) to lift the country’s third trophy.

“I did not write to Messi because he must have an exploding phone,” Tevez said. “It gives me great joy that my children shout his goals.”

Tevez was part of the Argentina team with Messi that didn’t win the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but it seems as though it’s something he’s content with not winning in his career and didn’t need to put himself in the moment.

Additionally, the former goal scorer stated that he’s mentally exhausted from football after a long career, so perhaps that’s why there’s no emotional connection.
