Chelsea cruised into the Carabao Cup final by thrashing Middlesbrough 6-1 in London on Tuesday night.

The Blues had lost 1-0 at the Riverside 14 days earlier, but recorded the joint-biggest second-leg win in League Cup semi-final history to secure a place at Wembley.

Four of the goals came in the first 45 minutes at Stamford Bridge.

A Jonny Howson own goal started the rout before Enzo Fernandez, Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer all got on the scoresheet.

Palmer netted again in the second half before Noni Madueke got Chelsea's sixth.

Morgan Rogers then became this season's leading scorer in the League Cup with five goals by bagging a late consolation strike for the EFL Championship side.

Chelsea will now face either Liverpool or Fulham in this season's final on February 25.

That will be Chelsea's 10th appearance in a League Cup final. The Blues have won five of their first nine finals - in 1965, 1998, 2005, 2007 and 2015.

Only two other clubs have reached 10 League Cup finals since the tournament was launched in 1961.

Manchester United have competed in 10 finals, while nine-time winners Liverpool have featured in 13.
