Manchester City striker Erling Haaland accepted Didier Drogba's challenge by imitating the Chelsea legend's iconic goal celebration on Tuesday night.

Drogba co-hosted the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony last week when Haaland came second to Lionel Messi in the vote for the top men's prize.

Despite missing out on the Ballon d'Or itself, Haaland won the Gerd Muller Trophy after scoring 56 goals in 57 games for City and Norway last season.

When receiving his award, Haaland was joined on stage by former Barcelona forward Gary Lineker.

Drogba asked Haaland to mark his next goal by either celebrating like him or like Lineker.

He said: "For your next goal I challenge you, you have to choose between the Didier Drogba celebration and the Gary Lineker celebration, if you accept the challenge, of course?"

Haaland replied: "We will see on the next goal."

City's next game after the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony was a 6-1 win over Bournemouth but remarkably Haaland did not score in that hammering.

However, he found the net from the penalty spot just 23 minutes into Tuesday's Champions League Group G clash with Swiss side Young Boys at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland then pulled out the Drogba celebration, much to the delight of fans on social media.
