Karim Benzema to Chelsea is something that has been muted in recent days and weeks as Chelsea look to bring in a new striker in the late part of this window.

Time is really running out now though with Thursday’s transfer deadline looming for English clubs. So if Chelsea want to do something, it will have to be now.

Well, Football London are reporting this morning that a short-term option has not been ruled out at Chelsea, and Karim Benzema’s name has been doing the rounds online.

They say Benzema’s extortionate wages, though, present a big obstacle for Chelsea. A loan move where Al-Ittihad cover the majority of his salary would be feasible but it surely does not sound too appealing to the Saudi Pro League club.
