Raheem Sterling explains what Chelsea can do to avoid more nervy games like today

Raheem Sterling spoke to the TV cameras after a narrow win today that ended in a really hair final 15 minutes where Chelsea weren’t able to score a second goal or defend their own area convincingly.

He said that he saw the inexperienced players around him starting to panic when the first phase of the game was over and they hadn’t scored.

“If we don’t get the first in the first 15 minutes, we can try to overdo it… we just need to keep patient” Sterling explained.

We’ve certainly noticed that we tend to have good spells in the first 15 minutes of games, and there is a major dropoff in belief and energy after that.

As a more experienced player, Sterling knows not to panic and to just stay patient. Some of his teammates need to learn that, and fast. Games are 90 minutes long, and at the moment Chelsea start panicking before the first half is halfway done.
