After a promising start to his career at Liverpool, Fabio Carvalho has largely found himself confined to the sidelines over recent months.

The Portugal under-21 international joined the Reds from Fulham last summer when his contract came to an end at Craven Cottage after helping the West London club get promoted to the Premier League from the Championship.

Carvalho made a lively start to life at Anfield with a goal against Bournemouth before a 97th-minute winner against Newcastle United.

He has struggled since however, often missing out on Jurgen Klopp's squad, and has only played 634 minutes in all competitions for the first team since his move.

Football Insider claim that sources have told them that Liverpool are open to letting Carvalho go out on loan next season to help his progression.

The outlet claims that if a Premier League club can persuade Liverpool that the forward will get regular first-team action, they 'could now accept a loan offer'.

The Transfer Room

Liverpool's use of Carvalho this season has been baffling at times in a team desperately short of energy and creativity.

Assuming he would have a similar role at Anfield next season, a loan move may be best for all parties but there is no doubt long-term Liverpool need to work out how to utilise Carvalho, a player with the potential to go right to the very top.
