Julian Alvarez's move to Manchester City came with many questions, most regarding the mercurial talent of Sergio Aguero and whether the 23-year-old from Calchin, Argentina, would hit those levels.

Alvarez had a remarkable year, finishing his career at CA River Plate, knowing he would be joining City in the summer transfer window. He has settled into life in Manchester, scoring ten goals across all competitions and getting three assists in 33 appearances.

In December, Alvarez played a vital role in the Argentina World Cup squad that was victorious in Qatar, scoring four times, including a brace in the semi-final victory over Croatia

The reward for all this was the contract extension with the reigning Premier League champions, which Alvarez says is another proud moment.

"Me and my family are proud after arriving at the Club, how everyone has taken care of us, and now to have the chance to extend my contract is something very important to me," Alvarez said.

"There's been so much in a short time. I've always been trying to adapt and be ready to experience all kinds of situations in life.

"I've been through wonderful things and lots of emotions. I've learned, and I've grown as a person and also as a football player, which is one of the most important things."

Txiki Begiristain has worked tirelessly with Pep Guardiola to recruit the right people for the club, with Alvarez no exception.

" Julian has impressed everyone at Manchester City with his technical ability, dedication and attitude, " said Begiristain.

"We saw at the World Cup what a special talent he is. To win that trophy at his age is amazing, and we are all very proud of what he achieved.

"His progress so far has been really good, but we are now fully focused on developing his game even further and turning him into one of the best strikers in world football."

Alvarez is looking to emulate the fellow compatriots who have come before him at the Etihad Stadium, with both Ageuro and Pablo Zabaleta becoming club legends.

"My goals for the remainder of the season are being there, helping the team when I have my chance, giving everything that I have to keep growing as a person and as a player, and outside the pitch, too," he said.
