With Sheffield United suffering relegation from the Premier League there will be several links regarding key departures this summer, as is often the case for relegated sides.

The Blades will be keen to hold onto as many assets as possible; keeping players such as Oliver Arblaster and Gustavo Hamer could be the difference between gaining a bounce back promotion or not.

Many supporters have surrendered to the idea that at the very least one of Anel Ahmedhodzic or Vinicius Souza will be sold in the summer transfer window. The duo haven’t had the best of seasons, but they are still strong assets for the Blades.

According to Fotboll Direkt, Ahmedhodzic has a £17 million release clause in his contract after Sheffield United suffered relegation back to the Championship.

The Bosnian international had strong campaign under Paul Heckingbottom in last season’s promotion to the top-flight. Such performances attracted interest from Serie A side Napoli, who were rumoured to be keen on the centre-back in the January transfer window.

Sheffield United set for big profit if Anel Ahmedhodzic leaves this summer

Ahmedhodzic was signed from Swedish club Malmo in the summer of 2022 for a deal which would rise to just over £5 million with add-ons. It is thought that his former club will be entitled to a percentage of any sale fee.

The 25-year-old has proven to be a good piece of business from the club and they look set to gain a significant profit if he departs in the summer.
