Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney reacts to Manchester City’s frustrating 1-all draw with Chelsea in the video below. It was a frustrating evening for the champions at the Etihad Stadium. They dropped two points in the Premier League title race in an evening where poor finishing and Chelsea’s ability to hit City on the counter proved decisive.

On another night City could’ve scored a hat full of goals. Erling Haaland was unusually wasteful in front of goal and it proved costly come the final whistle. It is a rare sight to see City’s number 9 squander so many chances. The Norwegian striker has been the subject of heavy criticism following last night’s game. But if history is any guide he will hit back hard when his goal-scoring touch returns.

It was also a night where Julian Alvarez lined up in midfield. It is a topic of discussion that with Alvarez lining up in a midfield role does it hinder the champions? With Bernardo Silva picking up a knock during City’s midweek win over FC Copenhagen it robbed the champions of his industry and drive. Alvarez is a special player but didn’t appear suited to the role last night. Steven Mcinerney looks at all of this and if Phil Foden could’ve done a better job in a similar role last night.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom as the champions showed their fight to rescue a point. It was however a frustrating night for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney gives his thoughts on last night’s game in the video below.
