Julian Alvarez has scored again as he got on the scoresheet off the bench this time against Southampton compared to last week when he started against Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola made the decision to start Erling Haaland instead of Alvarez as he was back to full fitness and it was the correct call as the Norwegian opened the scoring with a clinical header just before half-time.

In the second-half Jack Grealish doubled City's lead following in to bury the rebound after Gavin Bazunu had saved his initial effort.

Grealish was involved in the third goal as well as his precise cross was met by Haaland who got his 30th league of the campaign in brilliant acrobatic fashion.

Sekou Mara got a consolation goal for Southampton before Kyle Walker-Peters gave away a penalty 30 seconds after his side had scored.

Alvarez was given the ball for the spot-kick and he fired it down the middle past Bazunu to get back-to-back goals and restored City's three goal lead.
