Cody Rhodes will get to finish the story, and he was given a slap by The Rock for his comments.

Going into the WWE WrestleMania 40, many fans were glued to the 2024 men's Royal Rumble match. The big question going into the match was would it be Rhodes or CM Punk who would punch a ticket to the WrestleMania main event. As it turns out, both men were the final two participants to close the show. Rhodes ended up eliminating Punk, leaving many to conclude that he was going to face Roman Reigns at the biggest wrestling show of 2024.

Then, fans were thrown a curve ball.

The Rock swooped in on the February 2nd episode of SmackDown and was given the match with Roman Reigns on a silver platter. This led to an uproar from fans, which WWE promised to address at a Kickoff press conference in Las Vegas earlier today.

Cody Rhodes will challenge for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, and now he's got beef with Dwayne Johnson.

During the Las Vegas presser, it was announced that Cody Rhodes will indeed challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Reigns said Cody was as irrelevant as his late father, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. That prompted Cody to say if the grandfathers of The Rock and Roman Reigns were alive, they'd be disgusted with "The Tribal Chief."

The Rock reminded Cody that when he talks about Reigns' family, he's talking about his own ancestors. Johnson then slapped Cody in the face, and both men were separated.

It now appears The Rock has gone heel after all, and it'll be interesting to see where this goes.
