Is CM Punk as 'toxic' as the Ultimate Warrior? Kevin Nash certainly believes so.

It has been just over a week since the 'Real World Champion' was released from AEW, following a week-long investigation into his backstage altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In. While several independent bodies recommended for Tony Khan to release Punk, the AEW President has made it clear the decision was his alone and feared for his life during the altercation inside Wembley Stadium.

As Toxic as the Warrior?

Punk is hardly the first wrestler in the industry to have a somewhat toxic reputation. In 2004, Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash compared Punk to the Ultimate Warrior when it comes to angering people in the business.

"He’s already put himself on the mantle right next to The Ultimate Warrior. Go shake the ropes buddy, you punched Luke Perry’s son, sucker punching his son."

The Ultimate Warrior would be notorious for developing a reputation as someone who was difficult to work with. In 2005, WWE released The Self-Destruction of The Ultimate Warrior DVD, which portrayed Warrior in a negative light, while documentary specials in more recent years have been more flattering of the former WWF Champion.

During a 2020 edition of 'Grilling JR,' Jim Ross went as far as to say that Warrior was "poison" and "cancer" in the WWF.

What's Next for CM Punk?

With his bridges burned with AEW, some have speculated that CM Punk could make a return to WWE, something that Punk attempted to achieve within the past year. While Zelina Vega has said she thinks a Punk return would be great, the 'Real World Champion' is said to have 'heat' with top Superstars in the company. Seth Rollins referred to Punk as a "cancer" during Punk's first suspension from AEW, a comment that would hurt the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion to say.
