Road Dogg Jesse James was a member of one of the most popular factions in the entire world of professional wrestling. Of course, the faction is D-Generation-X. Recently, the WWE Hall of Famer shared a story about an idea he refused to be part of.
The former WWE World Tag Team Champion had previously revealed that he used to have a problem with the overuse of alcohol and drugs. This resulted in him being suspended from the Stamford-based promotion at one point. Thus, he went to a rehabilitation facility to get treatment for his addiction issues.
In the most recent episode of the Oh… You Didn’t Know podcast, Road Dogg mentioned that WWE was interested in filming his rehab process. But the WWE Hall of Famer was a bit skeptical about the idea and rejected the idea.
“They wanted me to go to rehab and film it and document it all because it was at the time that Brett Favre was doing the same thing. So they asked me to do that, and I remember Shane [McMahon] coming to me and asking me and I was so not with it that my thing was, ‘Man, you’re gonna put that thing on TV? My kids are gonna see that.'” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
James said that he didn’t have a great excuse because his kids saw him struggle at home. He says he lacked the awareness to notice that at the time.
“They would’ve loved [to see me get help in rehab], but that’s not the perspective I was looking from at that point in my life,” he added.
Road Dogg recently celebrated 13 years of being clean and sober.
Today marks 13 years that I’ve been clean of drugs and alcohol! My life is 100% better! Ive learned to look inward and make course corrections/improvements as I go. I ain’t perfect, but HE is, I’ll continue to listen to that still, small voice! Thank you God! #OUDK
