Shelton Benjamin says the ball is in AEW’s court.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently reported that AEW has been in contact with Shelton Benjamin, and they have discussed possible appearances. The former WWE star’s future has remained up in the air since the company released him in September 2023.

Monopoly Events posted a video in which Shelton Benjamin is interviewed by Jamal Niax at For The Love of Wrestling. In one highlight, he was asked whether there was anyone in AEW that he wanted to face. (H/t Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling for the transcription)

“Honestly, (Kazuchika) Okada, while I’ve worked alongside him in New Japan, we never actually had a match, so I would love to work with Okada. Obviously, I would love to work with Will Ospreay because I think that guy’s phenomenal,” Shelton Benjamin said. “I’ve been watching him for years and you know, people call me athletic but I mean, he does stuff that I couldn’t even — it would put me in traction to even try some of the moves he does.

“But I would love to work with him. I think it could be a lot of fun so, those names are at the top of my list but obviously, I enjoy what I do, I love what I do and I can pretty much mesh with anybody. So, it’s just a matter of what they think but, as far as AEW goes, that door’s open — my door is open. I haven’t eliminated any possibilities as of yet.”

Shelton Benjamin On AEW All In

When asked about potentially competing at AEW All In, Shelton Benjamin said, “It could be (on his radar). Again, the ball’s really in their court. But like you said, it’s pro wrestling so, you never know what’s gonna happen.”

WrestleZone will provide more information about Shelton Benjamin’s status as it becomes available.
