Kyle Petty breaks down Ford’s hand in Brad Keselowski’s team RFK Racing’s massive performance drop
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Coming to the 2024 season as a tier one team at Ford, RFK Racing had a huge hope. But after eight races into the season, they are in a tough situation. Both Brad Keselowski and his teammate Chris Buescher, who has been contenders for the victory on multiple races in the last half of the 2023 season, hasn’t been challengers in any races, especially the short-track events where they were expected to deliver.

Now Kyle Petty, ex-NASCSAR driver and race analyst, has detailed why Ford is to blame for the team’s drop in performance. He pointed out that the change in body style due to introduction of Mustang Dark Horse has put the team back on the drawing board. They are now forced to rethink things that worked for them in 2023.

And then all of a sudden, you get another body style, you think it’s gonna pick up where this one left off, but it didn’t. They went backwards with this, they feel internally. So now they’re having to build back again. You talk about where Brad was, they’re not in the same place. They’ve got a different car. They’ve had to go to a different place and start again. Kyle Petty said via GO PRN live.

The struggles of RFK cant be just blamed on Fords new car. No Ford team has won a race in any of the top-3 tier NASCAR races this season and most often the teams are struggling top find pace even to contend for race wins. The teams are looking at the OEM for a break through and it should come soon.

Joey Logano urges Ford teams to work on engine to get back on top

Two times Cup Series champion Joey Lognao, who has been one of the drivers to struggles the most this season, has pointed out that the Ford teams has to work on their engines first to get back on top. He added that they have to keep learning about the cars and work on small parts of the car to get all the potential out of the car.

I’d say the engine is probably the number one thing that stands out right now that we got to keep working on, but it’s going to be a little bit of everywhere for sure. Still got the new car. We’re going to have to keep learning about and making sure we’re getting all the potential out of the car. Joey Logano said.

Ford has the responsibility of assisting it’s teams and help them to get out of the poor winless streak. They have to come up with much needed tweaks to the cars in all three series and get them back on top, as they might potentially be in the face of a PR disaster if the winless streak continues.
