The Eagles picked up a veteran safety on Tuesday when they traded for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and they said farewell to a pair of them. The team released the full list of roster moves they made to cut their roster to 53 players and it includes the releases of Anthony Harris and Jaquiski Tartt.
A longtime 49ers starting safety, Tartt had struggled to make an impression with the Eagles.
There was a time when Jaquiski Tartt looked like the final piece to the Eagles’ defensive puzzle. Before the Eagles signed him on June 18, they had already added to the defensive line by drafting Jordan Davis, signed linebackers Haason Reddick and Kyzir White in free agency, and added James Bradberry at cornerback.
After watching Jaquiski Tartt turn in the highest-graded performance of any defensive player on their team against the Cleveland Browns, according to PFF, the Philadelphia Eagles have to feel much better about their safety depth moving forward.
For a time, Jaquiski Tartt was the Philadelphia Eagles’ missing man. Initially signed back in June of 2022 to solidify the depth at the back end of the

Training Camp is slowly but surely approaching and while the City of Philadelphia can catch its breath after another chaotic sporting year, it’s time to look at what the next steps are for its beloved Eagles franchise.
Safety Jaquiski Tartt was one of those rare signings in that the Eagles locked him down for a one-year deal during the NFL's so-called "dead period." For that reason, Tartt has not yet been introduced to the media, something that likely won't happen until some time around when players begin to report for training camp on July 26.

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed Jaquiski Tartt to a one-year contract, it generated a ton of reactions across the fanbase. Jaquiski Tartt has been a massively underrated player with the 49ers. Make no mistake, the guy is one of the top safeties in the league and deserves to be viewed as one of the upper-echelon players at the position.
Tartt made a big mistake, but there is no guarantee that an interception would have translated to a 49ers win.
There is a strong possibility that the 49ers would have seen the game out if Tartt makes the pick. At the very least, it makes the Rams’ task much more difficult.
